Popular open research university Australian National University (ANU) was founded more than 50 years ago. Among the top 100 universities in the world, ANU was included by major rating publishers. Amongst some of the top 50 universities in the world, it has been listed by QS (Top Universities) since 2017. Academic reputation, faculty-student ratio, and citations per professor all received high marks for ANU. Additionally, from 2016 to 2020, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking) ranked it in the top 100 universities worldwide.
It is among top 100 academic institutions worldwide according to two more reputable rating services, THE (Times Higher Education) and US News & World Report. ANU was ranked 47th by THE in 2017 but is now ranked 59th by THE in 2021. ANU has consistently ranked among the top universities according to US News & World Report.
