  • A private university in Hempstead town of New York, Hofstra University was established in 1935 as an extension of New York University (NYU). Formerly known as the Nassau College - Hofstra Memorial of New York University, it became an independent college in 1939 before getting the status of a university in 1963.

Residence Halls for First-Year students

 

  • Stuyvesant Hall

 

First-year students are housed in suites at Stuyvesant Hall, which have two double rooms, a bathroom, and a living area. The hall is on the opposite side of the parking lot from the Student Center.

 

  • The High Rises

 

North of the Student Center, five residential towers may be found.  There are 225 to 300 pupils per high-rise structure consisting of single, double, triple, and quad rooms in the high rises with shared bathrooms at each end of the hallway. Only Honors College students live in Vander Poel Hall.

 

 

Residence Halls for Upper-class students

 

  • The High Rises

 

Same as first-year students.

 

  • Suffolk Hall

 

Approximately 230 undergraduate students are housed in a six-story suite-style housing with four or five students per room and a shared bathroom. Single or double rooms make up the bedrooms, while some suites have a communal lounge.

 

  • Colonial Square

 

Three courtyards where approximately 65 people can live in each residence and a total of 14 two-story homes make up the largest residence hall complex on campus.
