The university provides the job profile of the Department Chair. The job requires certain qualifications and is given huge responsibilities too.

The department chair is a full-time faculty member who oversees all aspects of the academic department's administration. Academic and support staff recruitment, evaluation, and supervision; faculty and staff orientation and onboarding; curriculum development and implementation; student advising; budget development and administration; and department continuity and administrative support functions are among the responsibilities. The department chair represents the faculty to other departments and colleges, as well as higher levels of administration, and is the person in charge of implementing and administering rules and procedures set at higher levels.

Qualifications required are : 

• A PhD, DBA, or other relevant terminal degrees must be earned in order to be considered for a faculty position in the particular College.
• Ability to raise significant amounts of money from outside sources.
• Demonstrated managerial experience at progressively increased levels of responsibility and authority in business or allied organisations and/or higher education business programmes.
• Demonstrated capacity to provide creative and imaginative leadership within the College and University, as well as the ability to create effective working connections with other schools and the community, through an open and collegial management style.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated communication and collaborative engagement skills with a wide range of people and groups.
• Sensitivity to different cultures.
• In addition to English, a working understanding of a second language is preferred.
• A high degree of computer skills and a complete understanding of instructional materials on the Internet are required.
