English Proficiency Verification
International students who have completed high school in the United States do not need to submit English verification documents.

Applicants with F-1 visas and/or foreign academic qualifications who do not speak English as a first language must demonstrate appropriate English language ability prior to admission.

There are four ways to check your English level:

• A degree from a country with a large English-speaking population
• standardized examination
• SIUE's Intensive English Pathway programme was completed successfully.
• Academic achievements

Standardized Examination
To establish English competence, international applicants must submit scores from one of the following standardised examinations completed within the last two years. Official test score reports from the Testing Service (ETS/IELTS) must be delivered directly to the Office of Graduate and International Admissions.

SIUE's institutional code is 001759. There's no requirement for a departmental code. Score report copies are not accepted.
